A Canadian Emigrant

An emigrant is someone who leaves their country to settle in another. I am a Canadian emigrant. Through this site, I will share my life story, insights into immigration and emigration, and shed light on the thought process you should go through before making such a significant move.

My story is becoming increasingly common. It’s the story of someone who moved to Canada believing life would be better, but due to various reasons, eventually decided that life in Canada wasn’t working out. This isn’t just happening to new immigrants; even those who have lived in Canada for decades are beginning to feel the same way.

My Journey

My family moved to Canada when I was a child. At the time, Canada was known as a land of great potential—boasting vast natural resources, geopolitical stability, and a high standard of living. Over the years, I made friends, built relationships, established a successful career, and even started a business. Many would describe me as highly accomplished, but to me, I was simply doing what I enjoyed, and the financial success followed as a natural result.

Fast forward to 2025, when I started this website, and Canada is trending backward in many ways. Many are thinking of leaving, and I have already left. The move is expected to be permanent.

Why I’m Qualified to Discuss Immigration and Emigration

I believe I am uniquely qualified to discuss immigration and emigration because:

  1. Personal Experience: I have moved in and out of Canada myself, experiencing both sides of the journey.
  2. Global Perspective: I have travelled to many countries and researched the viability of moving to some of them.
  3. Professional Expertise: As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), I have expertise in financial matters such as taxation and personal finance.
  4. Market Insights: I understand the challenges of penetrating job markets in other countries. I have started a business, and often, self-employment becomes one of your options when you relocate.
  5. Economic Awareness: Economics is my favourite subject, and I follow global news closely. When moving to another country, it’s crucial to be aware of geopolitical risks and consider future prospects.
  6. Strategic Mindset: My personality type is INTJ, meaning I excel at long-term planning. Uprooting your life requires careful, strategic preparation.
